The Story of Radix Recovery

From Family Triumph to Community Impact

Radix Recovery began with Dr. Courtney Brennaman’s vision, inspired by her father’s triumph over addiction. Experts in addiction treatment united with Covenant Family Solutions, Behavioral Health Partners, and Dahnovan Builders to form the Higley Partners. Together, they’re transforming Cedar Rapids’ Higley Mansion into a haven for recovery, supported by a $2,000,000 grant from Governor Reynolds.

A Historic Mansion With New Purpose

The Higley Mansion’s transformation into Radix Recovery is a testament to shared vision and purpose. With support from state and local leaders, Higley Partners are creating a space where Iowans can heal. This initiative merges history with innovation, delivering a continuum of care that reflects both expert collaboration and profound commitment to community well-being.

Radix Recovery was founded by Dr. Courtney Brennaman, whose personal story of resilience and hope inspired its creation. As a child, Courtney witnessed her father, a doctor, struggle with addiction, which deeply impacted her family.

When she was 10 years old, her father sought treatment and achieved recovery, transforming their lives. This experience instilled in Courtney a profound desire to help other families find the same healing and renewal her family experienced, leading to the vision and foundation of Radix Recovery.

Radix Recovery is powered by the Higley Partners, a collaboration of expert organizations working together to bring this vision to life:

  • Covenant Family Solutions serves as the clinical team, managing the program and day-to-day operations to ensure high-quality care and impactful recovery outcomes.
  • Behavioral Health Partners contributes expertise in addiction treatment consulting and marketing, shaping the strategic vision and expanding Radix Recovery’s reach.
  • Dahnovan Builders is leading the renovation of the historic Higley Mansion, transforming it into a state-of-the-art recovery facility that reflects hope and renewal.

Together, these partners combine their strengths to create a center of excellence for addiction treatment and recovery.

Radix Recovery recognizes the vital role family plays in the healing journey. We offer family therapy sessions to rebuild trust, improve communication, and address the impact of addiction on loved ones. Educational programs help families understand addiction and recovery, equipping them with tools to support their loved one’s long-term success while fostering their own healing.

Radix Recovery has garnered significant state and local support as a vital resource for addiction treatment in Iowa. Governor Kim Reynolds awarded the Higley Partners a $2,000,000 grant to renovate the historic Higley Mansion, underscoring the state’s commitment to expanding recovery services.

Local officials have also championed the project, recognizing its potential to transform lives and strengthen the community. This collaboration between Radix Recovery and government leaders reflects a shared dedication to addressing addiction and providing hope for Iowans in need.

Radix Recovery is located at 860 17th St SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403, in the historic Higley Mansion. Outpatient services will open in February 2025, providing support for Iowans seeking recovery. Starting in Summer 2025, the facility will also welcome individuals from out of state, offering comprehensive care to anyone in need of transformative addiction treatment.

Radix Recovery is dedicated to helping clients achieve meaningful, lasting transformation. Beyond abstinence from drugs and alcohol, our personalized treatment plans focus on real-world outcomes such as securing stable housing, maintaining employment, rebuilding relationships, and fostering emotional and mental well-being. Our goal is to empower clients to lead fulfilling, purpose-driven lives in long-term recovery.

The Higley Mansion, a historic landmark in Cedar Rapids, holds deep significance in Radix Recovery’s mission. Once a senior assisted living home, it sat vacant for over two years after closing during the COVID-19 pandemic. This beautiful, iconic building now serves as the cornerstone of hope and renewal.

Its transformation into Radix Recovery’s home symbolizes resilience and the ability to rebuild, much like the journey of recovery itself. By breathing new life into the Higley Mansion, Radix Recovery is honoring its historic roots while creating a space dedicated to healing, growth, and support for Iowans seeking lasting recovery.
